| BURLINGTON, WISCONSIN RIVER OF THE DEAD White River is where the Mormons of the Vohee Area did their baptizing for the dead. You can locate the area by standing at the Bridge in Burlington and looking to the South. This River and the Fox River are the two rivers flowing through Burlington. It then was ideal to use in travel because the Fox River's currents flowed into town and the White River's currents flowed our of town, north. | Burlington Wisconsin is a "Haunted Town" as you will soon discover by reading the pages I will be uploading on the Haunted Burlington Site. On this Page we will focus on the 'Hauntings of the Malt Theater' and the Tunnels under the Fox River. What are these tunnels and who made them is still a mystery to me. ..but as I find out I will post it here on this site. If you happen to know the story behind the tunnels and the hauntings of Malt House Theater please contact our offices in Burlington Wisconsin. The Malt Theater is known here in Burlington for it's apparitions (ghosts). Some report a lady in a long dress that appears and then disappears by walking through a wall or window. Others have felt hands on then, to turn around and find no one there. Others have just felt a very strong presense in the various rooms. Listen to this unedited audio that was I recorded detailing some young men's experiences in the Malt Theater. For some strange reason, as Nick Tofilon describes the ghostly lady, the tape is wiped clean of audio. Just let it keep running and the voice will again pick up . I didn't edit the blank space audio because of the possiblity of an EVP that some of you investigtors may be able to pick up here in this silenced segment. Click Here to Listen to Audio. Voices on audio, Marcus Heilingthal and Nick Tofilon |
| Note: Tunnels have been sealed off, but seems that the Malt House Theater is where the entrance is. Where the exit is is yet undetermined. |
| Malt House Theater History Jacob Muth, born in Prussia in 1825, arrived in New York in 1846. After working at breweries in Milwaukee and Sheboygan, he came to Burlington in July 1852. The Malt House is located on the northwest corner of Main and State Streets and was erected in 1872 to replace a frame building which had been erected in 1852. Muth's house was on the southeast corner of State and Main. The former house was razed to make way for the First Banking Center. |
