Continued from Burlington Mound Builders
In 1959, following up on an earlier excavation, Professor Reesdon Hurdlop, uncovered a stone sarcophagus containing sixty-nine scrolls of
writings from the Continent of Muror (MU).
From these scrolls we had our first look at this unknown and lost culture that existed during the time of the great destruction of Atlantis.
Following is a brief description of the people, their lifestyle and religion in their latter stage of Evolution before sinking into the depths of the
sea.
Religion: During the final days of Mu we do not see them as a goddess worshipping culture, but a culture duatheoistic in nature, worshiping
both a god and goddess. Lief was the male diety and Gana was the female diety.
Gana was a fertility goddess that was associated with the moon. She had great control over the crops, the times to sow and to reap. The
Texcoco Venus statue found in the excavation is almost certainly a representative of Gana, which may be well over 65,000 years old.
The God Lief was represented by a figurehead on each of the proud Phara boats. he watched over the crews and guided them to safe harbor.
He led them into battle and guided them on voyages of discovery. He may well have been what the Greeks seen as Posidian, God of the Water.
Reincarnation: The Murovians believed in reincarnation.l Their body was only a shell used as a tool for the body to use while on this earth
plane. At death this body would be burned and the ashed scattered to the winds while the 'soul' passed on. The bodies of the archpriest and
archpriestess, however, were preserved in the 'Tomb of Time'. On the death of the archpriest or archipriestess the bodies were ritually bathed
and purified.
According to the scrolls:
'The 'workings' of the body are first removed by the Priest or Priestess slitting within the cheeks (buttocks) with a silver knife and
withdrawing the viscera from thence. This is later burned and the ashes (used?) at the consecration of the succeeding archpriest and
archpriestess.
The inner realms of the eviscerted body are thoroughly cleansed with wine and the 'workings' replaced by equal parts of tneecm, lebal
(possibly myrrh and cassia) and salt. Then the slit sewn togethr and the attention passed to the head. Here the priest will remove the brain, by
way of the nose and pour in strong paerg-wine. The nose is sealed with wax and the whole body is then lowered into a bath of niter, whre it
remains for a full Moontime.
When removed from the bath, the body is placed in its position in the Tomb and coated many times with nesir gum, which will hold it rigidly
in position and help to preserve is natural appearance.
The Soul or Spirit of all Murovians , other than the archpriest and archpriestess, would pass on to final rest in an unnamed afterworld. There
seems to have been no thoughs of retribution in this afterlife. The soul would remain there for seven years, during which time it would discuss
its former life with the God and Goddess and plan its next life to come. In all, twenty one lives were lived before all things had been
experienced. At the end of these twenty one lives the soul rose up to 'join with its brothers and sisters, the stars'.
The priesthood was the ruling class of Muror. The capital city of Nalta housed the archpriest and the archpriestess along with the
administrative group known as the 'head' . The head consisted of two High Priests, two High priestesses and three lay members
(Harbormaster, Merchant and Farmer), each serving a three year term of office. The Archpriest and Archpriestess had equal powers
personally initiating the graduating priests and priestesses from the Temple of Rowen and leading the religious ceremonies in the Great
Temple of Nalta.
Below the Archpriest and Archpriestess were the High Priests and High Priestesses - thirteen of each.
From these were taken two of each in strict rotation to serve on the Head . All would take their turn, serving three-year term.
The young priests and priestesses that had entered the temple schools for initiation were known as 'Wise Ones'. They would often be called
upon to act as scribes and in their later years might even fill in at a temple for a priest or priestess who was indisposed. Early years in the
Mystery School was spent in general education, though at a more highly advanced level and greatly concentrated rate than would be found in
our schools today. it seems that some form of hypnosis was used to accelerate and intensify the learning process, for in Scroll #28 it was told:
" ...being comfortably seated in the GREAT HALL OF LEARNING, I relaxed and matched my 'heart-beat' to the 'pulse' of a drum. The Wall
of Light was blank to start with and the chorus (sounds) but a murmur. Gradually, almost imperceptibly, the drum beat increased (in
momentum) taking my 'soul' with it. The Chorus rose and my directed sight caught the suggestion of movement on the Wall of Light. Before I
knew it the lesson had begun and I felt in the midst of something which had been running since the beginning of time. I experienced all I saw. I
saw it; I heard it; I felt it; I 'was' it. Whether the load-hauling hound, the brown-bretted sea-caption, or the wind-filled close-wove man-made
sail on an ocean-going ship - I was the thing itself.'
Only one lesson was given each day. The rest of the day was taken up with athletic activities, private interests , or - more and more in later
years at the school - in coaching on priestly duties, temple organization, ceremonial planning etc. These priesthood lessons were given in a
more personal form than the Great Hall of Learning hypnotic method.
Within the Temple, the male and female neophytes were free to mingle when and how they wished. If the urge to unite bodily came on one
then it was felt it was the wish of the gods and should be obeyed.
Although a Priest would have but one priestess wife he was allowed to have other wives which were not priestess. The same rule applied to
the Priestess, which could have husbands in addition to her priest. Outside the priest and priestesshood, the same rule applied to the general
population.
The First Agenda for the day was to bathe in cold salt water to cleanse the body. This takes the impurities out of the body.
Second was to have a meal before starting classes. With a contented stomach the student was free and happy to study the construction of the
rituals. And the ceremonies in the school 'were' lessons for the future priests and priestesses.
From the temple, the group of students and tutors would go to rooms or, more usually, out into the gardens to sit and informally discuss the
ceremony witnessed. This discussion would also cover religious beliefs, disciplines, duties, etc.
After a small mid day meal and an hours break the next session for the student would be in the GREAT HALL OF LEARNING. From there
the groups would meet together again and decide what to do the remainder of the day.

We would wear about our heads a circlet of silver, about waists a girdle of thirteen snao (moon) discs. Our wrists would bear wide silver
braceslets of adornment free. Our feet would be bare. We had many times lived through the past sun's cereemony, in the Great Hall of
Learning., so that we were familiar with the order (ceremony). At last came the long awaited time. We arose while the Goddess was yet in
attendance (while the moon was still in the sky). After the ablution and a strengthening meal we proceeded to the Temple of Raku where a
ceremony was conducted by Opaz and Zelta, the High Priest and High Priestess of our own Rowen. They called upon the gods to bless us
and guide us along the way that lay ahead.
A brief time of rest followed, which Jayen and I spent in each other's arms , before dressing for the true (work?) of the day.
All the temples had 'Mouthers'. Each temple had at least one and the Great Temple in Nalta which could hold an audience up to thirteen
thousand had thirteen. The Mouthers would go into an ecstatic trance and mouth prophecies and pass judgements. This is much like the
Greek Sibyls who were women that were endowed by Apollo with a prophetic spirit. The best known was the Cumaean Sibyl who wrote the
famous Sibylline Book of Prophecies.
