PEVERLY MISSOURI UFO SIGHTINGS

For years there has been UFO Sightings in Peverly Missouri , which  is located 45 minutes from Saint Louis.
It has been on television several times. I do not know if it is a hoax or not. The people of Peverly say they see them around four o'clock everyday. Alien craft's are suppose to come up out of a lake somewhere there..
Perhaps you can find someone close enough to check it out.
I heard it on the news when I lived there.

I think that it is a misspelling and where the person that sent you the information got it I have no idea because I have not been able to find any reference to ufo sitings around Pevely, MO and except for a couple of
references there is no mention of Peverly, MO, as I said it is not on any map anywhere.

I think the person is refering to the sightings in the Piedmont area and that was over twenty years ago. As to how they got Piedmont and Pevely mixed up I don't know because they are quite a distance apart. There
was quite a thorough investigation by Professor Harley Rutledge from the, then, Southeast Missouri State College, physics department and although he didn't find anything he said that did not prove that anything had
happened because he was able to get to the area until after the flap was pretty much over.

He wrote a very good book on the investigation and I attended a lecture he gave on the investigation and even volunteered to add my photographic expertise if he ever decided to go back . I think since he had
problems getting funding for what he did do he decided not to try again.

Also the sightings just seemed to go away even though Professor Rutledge said there was absolutely no reason to think that they were a hoax.
The lake is Clearwater Lake and might just be the closest major Missour Lake to St Louis

The arrival of a Flying Triangle UFO craft in Missouri and Kansas in 1980, caused concern and wonderment, as hundreds of witnesses, including policemen, watched a huge craft displaying a triangular pattern of
lights, move slowly over the countryside for a period of four hours. It was seen over 22 towns and at one stage the enormous craft appeared to be dropping what a local truck driver described as satellites, which
appeared to be round and emitted a bluish glow. The whole event was tracked on radar during the four hour period and must rate as one of the most awesome sightings to date. One witness described the Flying
Triangle as being "as big as a football field." This event was the first indication of their presence, but within a decade, Flying Triangular craft were to be reported world wide.

Between February and March 1973 many people in Piedmont, Missouri reported UFOs of varying types and under varying conditions.
On 19 March, two scouts on top of Bluff View saw a glowing UFO skim across the lake there and disappear.
The Piedmont Chief of Police said that altogether hundreds of reports had been received and that he had seen lights himself.

On 21 March, Mrs. Jean Coleman and Miss Cathy Leach reported a 'disc-shaped object with a reddish glow' surfacing from Clearwater Lake to soar over a mountain top.
