The Voree Plates were excavated in 1845 near Burlington, Wisconsin by four men who were acting under the direction of James
Strang, Strang 7:1-5.
The translation given below of the Voree Plates was made in 1845 by James Strang, Strang 8:1-4. He said that he had done this by
using the Urim and Thummim, Exodus 28:30. However, James Strang did not identify how the words of that translation corresponded
to the language on the plates.
In August, 2001, the solution below was provided by Keith Thompson of Manchester, England. This discovery is very important,
because for the first time it now permits an analysis to be made of the language on those plates. This may help to determine if it is an
authentic language, and if it is related to any other known language.
Keith also provided the translation listed below for the Hebrew word in the box on Side 1. He based this translation on Psalms 23:4
and on other Bible verses where this Hebrew word is used.
Although the following material is subject to interpretation - we now have a start in trying to translate what the plates's real message
was.
The original writing would have been read from right to left instead of the english version of left to right .
