| Seeing the Unseen - It's a Matter of Belief by Mary Sutherland @2006 The Spectrum of Reality encompasses both that which we can see and measure, as well as that which we can neither see nor measure. Our human senses detect only about 5% of reality. Although some people have claimed to see ghosts, and many have reported anomalous cold spots and described a strange chill on their skin, modern ghost hunters have shown that unusual magnetic fields and strong voltages also occur in these same haunted locations. Unusual orbs have been photographed at the same time that magnetic and electrical disturbances are measured - which is par for the course on sacred sites where you find strong ley lines . (None of these can be explained by conventional science. Dr. Claude Swanson) There are creatures that appear to inhabit the etheric borderland between the physical and astral realms. The astral realms are said to be inhabited by further varieties of elemental beings and also by the souls and astral shells of the dead. Since the middle of the last century a great deal of research has been carried out into paranormal and spiritualistic phenomena. A whole new branch of science -- parapsychology -- has sprung up, though it receives as yet little recognition from mainstream science. But there's plenty of evidence, for those willing to see it, that something like the astral realms and astral entities must exist. Sometimes in order to understand what is 'out there' you must first understand what is 'in here' - and that takes us to understanding how the brain determines how we perceive our reality - then compare that reality to what the camera may capture which is not capable of 'preceiving' - only capturing images of photons. Eastern traditions don't base much on what they physically see as they believe this reality is nothing but an illusion. They call this Maya. Western tradition view of reality is more based in what you see is what you get. However what you see is light waves and these light waves are not solid and variably change. Thus nothing remains constant - reality is forever changing . Blue becomes red - white becomes black - based only on the length of the light wave. Solid molecularly changes to liquid and then on to ethereal - then back again - simply by changing the density of which the molecules are being formed. Our brain forms our reality based on what we have been taught . As it takes in light , it processes it according to the persons belief structure. What is part of the belief is taken in and processed into our reality. What is not part of our belief is filtered out and tossed aside. We then act or react accordingly. Our nervous system works like a two way highway ..receiving and sending information. The nerve cells of the body (neurons) talk to each other - passing information from one sensory neuron to another until it gets to the central nervous system. When the brain receives the signal it processes it and sends it back to the body telling it what action to take. Your spouse may be a sight for sore eyes at the end of a long day - but without the brain, you wouldn't even recognize him or her. Pepperoni pizza is delicious - but without the brain, your taste buds wouldn't be able to tell if you were eating pizza or the box it came in. None of your senses would be useful without the processing that occurs in the brain. - but what a waste of a good brain if it is processing everything according to 'disinformation' programmed into it since our childhood. Let's take , for example, how we process color: The problem with color vision starts in childhood, when we are given our first box of paints and then told that yellow, blue, and red are the primary colors and that yellow plus blue equals green. Most of us are then surprised when, in apparent contradiction of that experience, we shine a yellow spot and a blue spot on a screen with a pair of slide projectors, overlap them, and see in the overlapping region a beautiful snow white. The result of mixing paints is mainly a matter of physics . What we are really doing is mixing 'light beams'. When thinking color what we should be concentrating on is physics and biology. In physics - light waves and the biological factors would be (1) psycho-physics, a discipline concerned with examining our capabilities as instruments for the detection of information from the outside world. (2) Physiology - examining the detecting instrument (our visual system) to see how it works. We know a lot about the physics and psychophysics of color, but the physiology is still in a relatively primitive state, largely because the necessary tools have been available for only a few decades. Color is light waves and light consists of particles called photons, each one of which can be regarded as a packet of electromagnetic waves. For a beam of electromagnetic energy to be light, and not X-rays or radio waves, it is simply a matter of of the wave-length—Our eyes can detect electromagnetic energy at wavelengths between 400 and 700 nanometers. What color we see depends not only on the wavelength but the properties of our visual system . Again it involves both psychics and biology.
