| JOSHUA AND HU THE MIGHTY BACK TO MOUND BUILDER HOME PAGE THE SEED OF ABRAHAM WOULD SPREAD ABROAD TO THE FOUR POINTS OF THE COMPASS The Welsh TRIADS (traditional chronicles) tell of a mysterious man by the name of HU THE MIGHTY, who led a group of settlers across the Hazy Sea from the Sumer Country., from the Middle East to the Isles of Britain. He was the first of three chieftains who established a colony there. HU THE MIGHTY was also known as Hu Gardarn and was a descendant of Abraham . His coming to Britain provided one of the first recorded instances of the fulfillment of the prophecy found in Genesis 28:14 - that the "seed" of Abraham would spread abroad, to the four points of the compass. The Welsh Triad, reads as follows: "First was the race of the Cymry, who came with Hu Gadarn to Ynys Prydain." Hu came from "the land of Sumer". He journeyed to Ynys Pridain (Isle of Britain) This first major settlement preceded the migration in 1149 [B.C.] of Brutus of Troy to Britain. Gadarn is a Welsh word that means "Mighty." Hu was a short form of the old Celtic name HESUS (JESUS) And according to Hebrews 4:8 there was a famous "JESUS" who lived in the balmy sumerland of the Eastern Mediterranean cenuries before the time of Jesus the Christ. Hebrews 4:8, "For if JESUS (that is, JOSHUA) has given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day?" The name JESUS is the Greek form of the Hebrew name JOSHUA. - which makes Hu or Hesus the Mighty none other than JOSHUA THE MIGHTY, the great general who led Israel into Palestine. And the Welsh Triad records that in his later years, he peaceably settled Israel in the British Isles. From there they spread to the coasts of the Continent which were subject to the German Cymry -- the descendants of the German king Cimbrus (1679-1635). (Reference: Compendium of World History. Pasadena, CA: Ambassador College, 1963. Pp. 48-49) Spreading the seed of Abraham by settling Israelites in Britain was not the only concern of Hu the Mighty (Joshua). To the end of his life he was faithful to the commands of God regarding the Canaanites. It is recorded that in the third year of Romus (son of Testa and King of Spain) a man known as "Liber Pater" or Bacchus (Iacchus) conquered Spain and brought it under his sway. "He was from the East and his title belonged to "Hesus the Mighty". He pursued the Canaanites and drove them out of Western Europe in 1430 B.C.
